JobMaker Hiring Credit – Scheme now open for applications

JObmaker hiring creditThe JobMaker Hiring Credit is an incentive for employers and is designed to support and create new employment for young job seekers as part of Australia’s road to economic recovery from the impacts of COVID-19.

If you have created a job from 7 October 2020 and employed a person previously claiming certain benefits, you may be eligible for the JobMaker Hiring Credit.

The maximum claim period is 12 months from the employment start date.

How much is JobMaker Hiring Credit?

The JobMaker Hiring Credit will be:

  • $200 per week for each eligible employee aged 16 to 29
  • $100 per week for each eligible employee aged 30 to 35.

What are the conditions for JobMaker Hiring Credit?

To be eligible, employers must:

  • hold an Australian Business number (ABN)
  • be up-to-date with their tax lodgement obligations
  • be registered for Pay As You Go (PAYG) withholding
  • be reporting through Single touch payroll (STP).

New employees must:

  • be aged 16 to 35 years
  • be in receipt of income support payments (such as JobSeeker Payment, Youth Allowance (Other), or Parenting Payment) for at least one of the three months before they were hired.

Eligible employees must have worked an average of at least 20 hours per week over the quarter for the employer to qualify for the payment.

You can access the registration on ATO online services or the Business Portal; or let us know if you need us to do so form our end.

Note you cannot claim JobKeeper and JobMaker Hiring Credit at the same time.
